: 「ヨ・ニ・ク・ル・フ・ツ・キ」 "yo-ni-ku-ru-fu-tsu-ki" = Anagram of lines 12 and 25 Decided on "夜に狂ふ月" as possible kanji spelling : 「フ・ル・キ・ヨ・ニ・ツ・ク」 "fu-ru-ki-yo-ni-tsu-ku" = Anagram of lines 12 and 31 Decided on "古き世に付く" / "古き夜に付く" as possible kanji spellings, and ended up choosing the former. "late mother" (as in dead), substituded with just "haha" ("mother") indeed, your household would be "motherless" if all the mothers were dead. : 「Linage Tour」 = In English, 'linage' can be any of the following: (1) the number of printed lines on a page, (2) an archaic term for 'alightment', or (3) a mispelling of 'lineage' as in one's ancestry or bloodline. I went with the former, but it was still difficult to fit into the translation.

So we'll assume it's just romanized Japanese, which can make it either '兄' for 'older brother' (which might make sense for Subaru since he's the youngest in the family) or else '豈' for 'an expression of surprise'. As to what exactly 'ani' is supposed to be, the closest thing in English is some form of cuckoo bird, so that doesn't seem right. It's like they used English words but with Japanese sentence syntax (so the verb's at the end), so if 'into' is the particle ('ni') and 'Not' is the verb ('nai'), that leaves us with 'Ani' as some sort of functioning noun. : 「Ani into Not」 = Okay, this makes no sense in English.

: 「ツ・キ・ヨ・ニ・ク・ル・フ」 "tsu-ki-yo-ni-ku-ru-fu" = lines 12, 25, and 31 all seem to be anagrams of each other after much trial and error, I've gone with "月夜に狂ふ" as a possible kanji spelling (keeping in mind that "kurufu" would be the kobun (ancient orthography) method of writing "to go insane" I think they just went with that so they'd have the "fu" syllable available in the anagram in Line 25). "sucking love" (there's already been one game OP Theme about this) substituted with "求められてる" ("to want/desire ") take it as you will. "breastless" I know from the anime that Ayato refers to the protagonist/Yui as "chichinashi" which also means "breastless", although it's translated as "pancake" in the subtitles, the explanation behind which was because "her chest is as flat as a pancake". : 「RAVEIMP」 = an anagram for the word "VAMPIRE" Now for the usual bunch of word replacements: I wasn't able to find the spoken bits of dialogue towards the middle since they weren't included with the official lyrics and I don't trust my ear enough to pick the words out. Ironically, neither Ayato nor Subaru were singing in either of these other two songs, so the reason for the references is a mystery to me. The two spoken lines at the very beginning were almost word-for-word from a similar spoken section in "Kessen no Dies irae", and the phrase "中毒(ヤミツキ)になれ" (complete with word substitution!) showed up a few times in "Kindan no 666".

Also, there were a couple of lines that seemed like shout-outs to previous DiaLovers songs. This only got annoying to translate once they started making anagrams in Japanese. For example, "RAVEIMP" is an anagram of "VAMPIRE". And if the title wasn't enough of a clue for how this was going to go, the word "アナグラム" ("anagram") even shows up in the lyrics themselves! For those who may not know, an anagram is a word/phrase/sentence formed from another by rearranging the letters.

As for the arrows in the title.eh, I assume those are just markers to indicate this should be read both frontwards and backwards.

In his novel, "The Shining," Stephen King used the term "REDRUM", which is "MURDER" spelled backwards! I haven't read the book myself since Stephen King novels tend to scare me a little, but I doubt a direct reference was intentional. Thankfully, Google set me straight via Stephen King. The term "REDRUM" initially struck me as either "red rum" squashed together or "re-drum" as in "to drum again", neither of which made a great deal of sense. Before I get into EVERYTHING that confused the heck out of me in the lyrics themselves, let's start with a note about the title itself. I've been trying to keep up with listening to these albums as they come out, and I find I'm really enjoying this batch of songs a lot more than I thought I would! Admittedly, Rejet cranks out some awesome tunes, but even so~♪ Back to Diabolik Lovers, this is the first of the VS SONG albums, featuring Ayato & Subaru! So who's up for some fun with anagrams~? Silvermoon249Well, as it turns out, I was indeed overthinking this translation, so once I quit that it went much faster than I initially anticipated! I do this to myself.
